About Polyester Yarn
Filament yarns are continuous and are texturised or drawn for saree, dress and lining fabric; Surat's weaving industry runs largely on them. Spun polyester is staple fibre spun like cotton, and is used where a cotton-like hand is wanted or for blending into PC and PV yarns.
Denier replaces count as the unit for filament yarn, and the specification should state lustre (bright, semi-dull, full dull) as well as whether it is texturised, since both materially affect the fabric's appearance.

What is the difference between POY, FDY and DTY?
POY is partially oriented yarn, an intermediate product usually texturised into DTY. FDY is fully drawn yarn, ready to weave. DTY is draw-texturised yarn with crimp and bulk added.
